HABITA79 MGallery Pompeii conclude la stagione 2024 con la mostra personale “Sequenze” di Silvia Beltrami.
Il progetto è proiettato verso un’indagine materica caratterizzata dalla tecnica dello strappo d’affresco, procedimento mediante il quale si preleva un affresco dal suo muro originario, rimuovendo la parte pittorica e l’intonaco superficiale e trasportandolo su un nuovo supporto (metodo calicot dal nome della tela sottile detta anche “cencio della nonna” che si usa per la rimozione dell’affresco) dove l’artista interviene successivamente applicando dei frammenti di carta patinata.
Sequenze trae ispirazione dall’attualità dei nostri tempi che, mediata dai mass-media, diventa propaganda, non concedendo spazio al libero pensiero e alimentando così l’omologazione. Queste opere rappresentano il quotidiano utilizzando frammenti di realtà, interpretando nuove infinite vite attraverso essi, dove ogni frammento ha la sua storia, e più sono numerosi, più si accavallano fra loro e più perdono la loro identità originaria, citando il film di Daniel Kwan e Daniel Scheinert “Tutto ovunque e tutto in una volta”.
Silvia Beltrami pone sempre queste figure quale punto di riferimento, esprimendo in questo modo una poetica che fa dell’umanità il suo fulcro, un’umanità costantemente in fuga da sé stessa e dagli altri. La mostra crea un dialogo tra il collage e l’affresco, tra la realtà e la conoscenza storica, tra il peso del passato e la frammentazione del presente. Le opere selezionate ci inducono a riflettere sulla struttura della nostra comune memoria transitiva, eredità del patrimonio dell’arte italiana. Silvia Beltrami decontestualizza l’affresco e lo reinterpreta attraverso la sua ricerca artistica.

HABITA79 MGallery Pompeii concludes the 2024 season with the solo exhibition “Sequenze” by Silvia Beltrami.
The project is directed towards a material study characterized by the fresco tearing technique, a procedure by which a fresco is taken away from its original wall, by removing the pictorial part and the surface plaster and then transferred onto a new support (calicot method from the name of the thin canvas also called “grandmother’s rag” which is used to remove the fresco) where the artist subsequently intervenes by applying fragments of coated paper. “Sequenze” draws inspiration from the current events of our times which, mediated by the mass media, become propaganda, not allowing space for free thought and therefore feeding homogenisation.
These works reproduce reality using fragments of reality, interpreting new infinite lives through them, where each fragment has its own history and the more they are, the more they overlap with each other
and the more they lose their original identity, quoting the movie by The Daniels, Everything Everywhere All at Once. Beltrami always places the figure as a point of reference, expressing in this way a poetics whose fulcrum is humanity, a humanity constantly running away from itself and from the others. The exhibition creates a dialogue between collage and fresco, between reality and historical knowledge, between the weight of the past and the fragmentation of the present. The selected works lead us to think about the structure of our collective transitive memory, a legacy of the heritage of Italian art. Beltrami decontextualizes the fresco and reinterprets it through her artistic research.
